How Long Do Your Candles Last?

If you take care of your soy wax candle and follow our candle burning tips you can expect to get in excess of 55 hours use from our large 30cl candle jars, 45 hours from our 20cl candle jars and tins and around 25 hours burn time from our 10cl candle tins. Our triple wicked candle bowls burn for up to 40 hours.

Do you use natural waxes?

We exclusively use 100% natural soy wax. You can find out more about the wax we use in our 'Why Do We Use Soy Wax' Knowledge blog post.

Are your candles Vegan?

All our ingredients are 100% vegan friendly, even down to the glue on our labels. None of the products or materials we use to create our candles are tested on animals. We collaborate from time to time with other artisan makers and we ensure that all their products and processes are in line with our values and views. So you can rest assured that you're getting ethical and eco friendly products.

Do you comply with EU CLP regulations?

The Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation ((EC) No 1272/2008) is based on the United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System (GHS) and its purpose is to ensure a high level of protection of health and the environment, as well as the free movement of substances, mixtures and articles.

We take safety and allergen information very seriously here at Lumos Apothecary. All our products are labelled in accordance with UK and EU regulations and include contact information should you require immediate assistance. Please see our CLP Information page for more information.

We operate in accordance with the IFRA 49th Amendment Implementation & Lilial (BMHCA) Restrictions.

Are your candles safe for pregnant women?

Our wicks are 100% natural (made from a cotton linen blend) and our wax is also 100% natural soy wax (not paraffin) so will burn clean, with no chemical toxins, parabens or sooting. This being the case, we are confident they are safe  as candles could be. If there is a particular scent/s you have in mind, please let us know and we can send you the Safety Data Sheets for the fragrances we use, which will also detail all the allergen information.

Can I create my own gift box?

We are more than happy to create bespoke gift boxes for you if you're wanting to give a special present to someone. Send us an email or get in touch via Instagram or Facebook and we'll work with you to create something perfect. We also a Gift Boxing Service via the website. 

Do you do tealights?

Absolutely we do. The product page can be found here. We can also 'pour to order' and are more than happy to make some up just for you if they are showing as out of stock on the website. Contact us if you'd like to request your favourite scent/s and we'll prepare them for you especially. 

Shipping & Delivery

Where do you deliver to?

Following the UK's departure from the European Union we currently only ship to the UK and US as standard. We are working very hard to register our products with the relevant EU authorities to enable to recommence our European Shipping routes. Please check our Shipping Policy page for the latest up to date information. We are able to ship anywhere in the world (with the exception of the EU), so please get in touch if you do not see the shipping option you need when checking out and we will find a bespoke solution to get your products to where you want them to go.

How much do you charge for Shipping?

Our shipping rates vary, depending on size, weight and whether international shipping is required, but in general, standard UK 2nd Class delivery is priced at £3.95. Please see our Shipping Policy page for the latest up to date information.

Can I collect my order from you to save on shipping?

We are more than happy to arrange a suitable day / time for you to collect your order from us free of charge if you'd prefer. We will ensure this is done in a Covid secure manner, so please get in touch before ordering and we can accommodate.

What packaging do you use?

We recycle as much packaging as we can as we try to do our bit to reduce waste and be as environmentally conscious as possible. All of our packaging is reused / recycled and/or recyclable :) In our gift boxes and candle subscription boxes your candle will be beautifully presented and protected from damage. 

We also use as many local suppliers as possible to limit transport requirements and unnecessary pollutants to the environment. We even take all our parcels to the Post Office on foot (except on subscription box shipping days!).

Candle Subscription Box

What is in a candle subscription box?

Each month you'll receive a 30cl soy wax scented candle, in a thoughtfully curated scent to match the season. It may be a scent from our extensive candle range or we may create an exclusive scent just for our subscribers. You'll also receive a 4 hour burn tea light in a different scent.

What size candle will I get?

Our candle subscription box comes with a 30cl soy wax candle that will burn for 55 hours +.

How do gift subscriptions work?

You can purchase a gift subscription for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. You can select which month you'd like this to start by emailing us after you've purchased. If you do not specify, we will start this on the next standard subscription date, which is the 8th of each month. Simply checkout as normal entering your details in the billing section of the checkout and the recipients details in the shipping section of the checkout. You can even add a handwritten gift note. Gift subscriptions are a one off purchase, meaning they won't auto renew.

When do your subscription boxes ship?

The last day for orders each month is the 7th. Our boxes will ship on the 8th of each month or the nearest working day to the 8th.

When will I be billed?

You'll be charged straight away when you subscribe and then your billing date will be the same date every month on the anniversary of your initial order. So if you signed up on the 5th, your billing date would be the 5th every month. 

Can I change my billing date?

You can change your billing date, amend payment details, pause or cancel your subscription at any time.

Can I group purchases together my subscription box to save on shipping?

Please get in touch with us to discuss, depending on what else you'd like to order we may be able to offer a bespoke shipping solution to help save pennies.

Where do you ship subscription boxes to?

Currently we are only able to ship our subscription boxes within the UK. However, if you're elsewhere please get in touch and we may be able to offer a bespoke solution to help you get your monthly artisan candle fix.

How much is shipping for the candle subscription box?

Shipping is included! So you save money when you subscribe too :)
